10 Ultimate Online Dating Lie Detector Techniques

Online dating is rapidly entering the social mainstream. More and more people each year identify the internet as the place where they’ve met their mates. Still, one needs to be cautious. Getting to know someone takes time and prudence in any social environment; but the means of doing so are a bit different when it comes to
online dating. Here is a list of the 10 ultimate lie detector techniques for online dating.
  1. Ask him about his favorite movie or book. Often, as a way of enhancing their appeal to the opposite sex, a guy will include things in his profile that he thinks will click with the ladies. See if he’s for real and ask him, “So what class did Edward and Bella share at school?”
  2. If he says he’s a non-smoker, look for general indications to confirm. Discreetly check the ashtray in his car for butts. Yellow fingertips, tobacco smell, etc. can be tell-tale signs he’s lying to you.
  3. For the self-described animal lover, there’s no better lie detector than your own pet. See how he responds to your dog or cat; and more importantly – and more tellingly – how your pet responds to him.
  4. Loose lips sink ships. Sometimes a little can go a long way, so a casual drink or two might just draw out some juicy tidbits. It’s more difficult to maintain a fabrication when your guard is down and your senses are more relaxed.
  5. If you haven’t met in person yet – ask her to send you a recent photo; and just to be sure it’s recent, suggest that she pose for the photo holding up that new copy of Call of Duty she says she’s crazy about. Likewise, ladies: have him proudly display that new Twilight sequel he loves so very much.
  6. ‘Friend’ him on Facebook and see if his other friends are saying the same things about him that he’s telling you about himself. You may even have the chance to meet his family vicariously by visiting his wall
  7. While you’re there … see if his interests and personal info match those things he’s shared in his dating profile. If he’s fluffing up his profile on the dating site in order to attract women, there’s a good chance you’ll catch some discrepancies on his Facebook profile.
  8. Google her. - A simple search of someone’s name can yield a bounty of information, absolutely free. You can find addresses, names of family members, including spouses and former spouses. It’s not an easy thing to lie when there’s so much information about you already out there.
  9. Visit other dating sites, see if she has a profile anywhere else and check for inconsistencies between them. If you find some discrepancies between multiple accounts, you may be dealing with a live one. In that case you can always …
  10. Open a separate account, using a different profile and photo. Initiate correspondence with your person of interest and see if their story stays the same with this “new” contact you’ve created. If nothing else, you’ll find out how sincere he/she is about getting to know the real you.
